  • Dr Nancy Grasmick and Secretary Raggio Visit Ridgely Middle School

Dr. Grasmick School Visit - 2State Superintendent of Schools Nancy S. Grasmick and Maryland Department of Disabilities Secretary Catherine A. Raggio visited Ridgely Middle School in Lutherville on Tuesday, October 13, as part of Maryland’s 2009 Disability History and Awareness Month activities.

The visit was one of a variety of activities and other events scheduled during October to celebrate and promote Disability History and Awareness Month across the State. During their visit to Ridgely, Dr. Grasmick and Secretary Raggio discussed societal attitudes towards individuals with disabilities and how events and laws have advanced civil rights for people with disabilities.  The goal was to increase awareness among the students of the accomplishments of people with disabilities in order to understand that “disability does not mean inability.”
