Advocacy
Family Navigators are parents or primary caregivers who have experience caring for a child with a developmental disability and/or mental health need. Navigators are located in almost all jurisdictions in Maryland and are trained to assist families and caregivers in accessing supports and services for their child. In those areas where a family navigator is not present a Systems Navigator (professional or paraprofessional) is available to assist families. Family Support Services are located in each jurisdiction and provide support in seeking services for children with disabilities from birth to age 21. Click here for more information on Family Support Services.
The Maryland Disability Law Center (MDLC) is a private, non-profit organization staffed by attorneys and paralegals. MDLC is the protection and Advocacy organization for Maryland.
